NOLA Baby!

That's right! Before we kickoff our 48 state trip we're taking a mini-road trip to NOLA! Truly, we're making stops in Destin, FL to visit family and Biloxi, MS, also.

Ya'll don't even know how excited I am to visit one of my favorite cities! Dorky, I know, but my first trip to NOLA was way back in 1998-1999. I was part of my high school's band and we were lucky enough to perform for the Nokia Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day in 1999. I instantly fell in love with the culture and vibe of that crazy town and have loved it ever since!

But this trip is going to be totally different than my past few visits....we're taking our kids! So, Bourbon St, I'm sorry but we're gonna have to wave at you from a distance.

Some may see this quick trip as a waste of time, but I say traveling and exploring with your kids is NEVER a waste of time! But just to show you why some may say that here's our itinerary:

Thursday - 11 hours of driving to arrive at the Grand Biloxi in Biloxi, MS (staying over night)
Friday - 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive from Biloxi to NOLA. Spend the day in NOLA. Head back to Biloxi. (again staying over night at Grand Biloxi)
Saturday - Leave Biloxi for Destin, FL for family time! Staying in Destin overnight.
Sunday - Leave for home (9 hour drive)

So, yeah, we'll be spending a lot of time staring at other cars and trees whizzing by our windows, but it'll be worth it! Oh and yea, it doesn't hurt that I've earned 2 nights free at the Grand Biloxi from Social Rewards by Total Rewards (Sign up here!)....hence why we're staying in Biloxi! And honestly, without those 2 free nights I'm not so sure we would have made the trek to NOLA this time...but, ya only live once ya know!

Our tentative dates of travel are from May 28, 2015 to August 31, 2015!

Thanks to Roadtrippers I've been able to come up with a plan, and even an estimate of gas $ needed! It's a great website to plan out any size road trip.
